It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
I didn’t mean to stay away for this long, things just…well they got a bit out of hand.
We moved, and if you’ve ever moved…ever (even from room to room)…you know that moving is terrible and should be banned by the Geneva convention.
Since my petition has yet to be responded to by the UN and since we couldn’t renew our lease at Ye Olde Camp Garcia we had to move.
It all started three weeks after the best day of my life. AKA, Stacey’s wedding.
We needed a place to live and had a short time to get something big enough for my and Stacey’s stuff. (JK Stax…but seriously, no more tote bags).
We found a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom just north of Logan Square and it was love at fir— It took a while for us to fall in love with our new home…but after we did. We fell hard.
It was the first place we lived as a married couple and we were lucky enough to fill it with amazing people and memories over the past four years.
We celebrated holidays
We held cats
We ate snacks
We even had Germans wearing my clothes passed out on our couch
When we moved, I kept telling myself that “home” is wherever Stax and I were together. And that’s true, it is what makes a house a home (sorry), but there is something very sad about leaving a place that has seen so much of your life.
But we had to go…so we packed…
And we moved…
And we took what we could and left the house ready for its new owner…
And then we came back and slept on the floor because why the hell not, it was still our house for one more day…
And then we said goodbye.
Goodbye to our first home as the Garcias. Goodbye to the birthplace of CampGarcia. Goodbye to knocking pipes and our neighbors knocking boots. Goodbye to so many things that I didn’t even know I’d miss.
That same day, though, we said hello. Hello to a new home, to new adventures, and to new memories.
We’re still working out the kinks. Figuring out how everything fits together. While we’ve got a long way to go, I know we’ll get there, and the new camp will be just as good as the last.
And with that…I’m back. More to come in the weeks to follow, so keep your eye out and suggestions coming.
I’m an acting/improvising optimizing son of a gun.
I’ve been living and working and performing in Chicago since 2005. I love to eat, travel, talk and make people laugh. So for me this blog stuff is pretty neat.
I also like you. Whoever you are. I like you. For coming to my blog and sharing in my thoughts. I appreciate you. And I think you’re hot. So here’s to you, readers of my blog. Thanks for being awesome. Share and share a like!
